Gerald A. StewartPublished Wednesday, December 29, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneGerald A. Stewart, 80, of Hot Springs died Saturday, December 25, 1999, in his home. Mr. Stewart was born November 18, 1919, in Emmet. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, a veteran of World War II, S SGT US Army, EAME Service Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, Bronze Star Medal, 23 Hq 5th Armd Div 44; Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal/Military Medal; and (British)/ Ltr 5th Armd Div. 45. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Myrtie Stewart; his first wife, Dempsey Elizabeth Penn-Stewart; a brother, Ellis Stewart, and his second wife, Mary Anne Stewart. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Marion Cambron and Rebecca Lou and Joseph Scott Anderson both of Hot Springs; one son, Gerald Penn Stewart of Hot Springs; six grandchildren, Gerald 'Chip' Penn Stewart Jr., Tyler Stewart, Michael Stewart, Jason Thornton, Amanda Thornton and Kelsie Sargent; and a life-long friend, Cleo Herndon of Batesville. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 28, at Gross Funeral Home Chapel in Hot Springs with Dr. John P. Miles officiating.
