Faye Adams HoltPublished Wednesday, December 29, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesFaye Adams Holt was born in Pike City on June 8, 1899. She was the daughter of John Wesley and Nancy Emily Mosely Adams. Her formal education was received through the public schools in Delight and Magnolia A&M College of Magnolia (now SAU). She married Fred Holt of Gurdon in 1921. They resided in Gurdon until 1928, at which time they moved to Warren, where Mr. Holt was employed with Merchants and Planters Bank. Mr. Holt served as president of First National Bank for several years. After his death, Mrs. Holt moved in 1992 to Little Rock and in 1995 to Dallas, Texas, where she died on December 22, 1999, after living 100 years. Mrs. Holt was a Methodist, noted for her participation in the musical programs of her church and community as a pianist and vocalist. She was also known for her skill as a wide variety of needle work and she instructed in these crafts throughout the years. During World War II, she coordinated the Red Cross knitting project for Bradley County servicemen. Survivors include one son, Fred M. Holt Jr. and his wife, Mary Ellen Harriss Holt of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Rachel Elizabeth Holt Hoehn and John Frederick Holt, both of Dallas, Texas; two nieces, Ed Irene Brock Oalin of Little Rock and Mary Sue Adams Tracy of Hot Springs; and one nephew, Edgar Lee Adams Jr. of El Dorado. Funeral services were held at Oakland Cemetery in Warren on Tuesday, December 28, under the care of Oak Cliff Funeral Chapel of Dallas, Texas. The Rev. Bob Regnier of Little Rock officiated. Her family greeted frieds at Burnett House Bed and Breakfast, 111 N. Munn St., Warren following the service. Memorials are requested for First United Methodist Church and the YMCA, both of Warren.
