Alfred Smith

Alfred Smith, 78, of Gurdon departed this life on Monday, December 20, 1999.

Mr. Smith was a retired employee of International Paper Company, a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II and member of Gurdon Pentecostal Church of God. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Idell, a granddaughter, Sherree Culbreath, and a great grandson, Trae Ross.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Smith of Gurdon; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tommy Barfield of Texarkana, Texas; step-daughter and her husband, Linda and Bill DeLoach of Lawrence, Mich.; brother, Bennie Smith of Seagraves, Texas; sisters, Annie Lee Conant of Arkadelphia, Jessie Mae Autry of Ft. Worth, Texas, Mary Easley of Seagraves, Texas, and Gladys Bird of Madisonville, Texas; one grandchild; two great grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren; and 21 step great grandchildren.

Services were Thurs., Dec. 23, in Horne Funeral Chapel. Interment was in Smyrna Cemetery near Okolona under the direction of Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
