Arlene Lois Ellis

Alene Louise Ellis died Wed., Dec. 1, 1999.

Mrs. Ellis was born to Virginia and Henry Alma Stringer on March 20, 1918. She obtained her education in the public school system of Gurdon. Mrs. Ellis accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She became a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, which later branched off and became New Bethel. She remained faithful until the Lord called her home. Alene loved her Church and served as stewardess, Sunday school secretary, organist and a member of the Missionary Society. Her husband, Columbus Ellis, preceded her in death.

Survivors include six nieces and nephews, Richard, Mary, Doris and Danny, Linda Ruth and Clarence, all of California; one aunt, Nettie Stringer of Winnfield, La.; her special pet, Toga; a very special sister-in-law, Mattie Stephens of Gurdon; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Mon., Dec. 6, at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Flemons officiating. Interment was in Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon with arrangements under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.
