It's been an up and down season on the hardwood for the Gurdon Go-Devils so far.

The team is still looking for its identity, with Coach John Ware trying to find the working formula with the players at hand.

Recently the Devils dropped a heartbreaker in overtime to Lewisville, falling 51-49.

Gurdon started well enough, taking the first period 17-10, but lost the second by the same scoring. At halftime, the score was knotted at 27-27.

The Devils went up 38-35 by the end of three, only to see Lewisville tie the game at 47-47 at the end of regulation.

In the overtime, Lewisville managed a 4-2 edge for the final margin of victory.

Gurdon shot 50 percent at the line, hitting five of 10, while the Red Devils netted nine of 16.

RaShaun Hopson led Gurdon in scoring with 20, while Cameron Rhinehart added 11.

Q. Davis paced Lewisville with 17. D. Austin scored 13.

From there, the Devils were merciless against Blevins as they demolished the Hornets 80-44.

Gurdon relied on a solid first period, 15-11, and pulled to a 34-23 lead at the break.

Period three was almost dead even, but the Devils were in command 49-37, before turning up the heat for real in the final eight minutes and outscoring Blevins 31-7.

Hopson again paved the way for the win with 18 points, Glenn Norris and Kenard Pegram added 14 each, while Derek Anderson chipped in 10.

Marcel Johnson provided offense for Blevins with 31.

Gurdon was eight of 19 at the line, with Blevins hitting 20 of 33.

Against Nevada, the Devils were forced into another overtime period, and fell 57-54.

Again the Devils opened well with a 17-8 first quarter score, but they saw the Blue Jays battle back to cut the lead to 28-24 by the break.

At the end of three, Gurdon was on the short end of a 40-36 score, but rallied in the fourth to tie the game.

Nevada outscored Gurdon 5-2 in the extra period.

Hopson led the Devils with 14, with Norris netting 12 and Pegram stroking the nylons for 10.

Keon Page was the game's leading scorer with 18 for the Jays. J.J. Lewis ripped the cords for 12, while Jamarrio Beasley added 10.

Free throws would have made little difference as Gurdon was one of five and Nevada was seven of nine.

Dollarway proved to be no match for Gurdon as the Devils posted a 67-51 win over the Cardinals.

The Devils outscored Dollarway 15-9 to get the game underway, and led 31-26 by halftime.

When the third quarter had ended, Gurdon was firmly in command 53-35.

Glenn took high scoring honors for Gurdon with 21, while Hopson was close behind with 18. Rhinehart had 10 in the game.

Jeff Davis led Dollarway with 11.

Gurdon was a woeful eight of 24 at the charity stripe, with the Cards netting 11 of 16.

The Devils will be participating in the 6th Annual Fouke Classic Dec. 27-29.

Gurdon's first game will be at 5:10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, against Pleasant Grove, Texas.

Their next outing will be against Bright Star Tuesday, Dec. 28, with tipoff set for 4:50 p.m.

Game three for Gurdon will be Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 4 o'clock when they lock horns with De Queen.
