Mom's in Touch weekly prayer group, praying for local schools and children, meet Tuesdays at 1:30 at First Baptist Church. Call 887-6376 for more information. Mom's in Touch first international Arkansas state rally with the founder, Fern Nichols, will be September 9 in Little Rock. A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be at the Nevada County Courthouse on Thursday, September 23. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. To find out if you are eligible, call 1-800-772-1213. Nevada County farmers are selling their produce at the farmer's market each week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until sold out at the Prescott City Park. If you are a Nevada County farmer with produce to sell, contact the Extension office at 887-2818 or Mary Godwin at 887-2101 for additional information concerning this opportunity to market your goods. The Prescott Middle School PTP is selling Prescott Curley Cubs and Prescott Curley Wolves t-shirts and sweatshirts as a fund-raiser. The t-shirts are $10 and the sweatshirts are $15. For more information or to place an order, call Lisa Pennington at 887-2824 or Billie Haynie at 887-6300. The Martin and Jackson families will hold a reunion September 18 at White Oak Lake pavilion. This is held each year at the park. The date will be September 16 in 2000. The EVA Pumpkin Fest will be held October 2 at the Emmet Chuck Wagon and old bowling alley building. Anybody interested in renting a booth spot can call 887-3285. The space is $10. There will be pumpkin costumes, arts and crafts, Beanie Babies and snack bar. The Prescott Elementary School Parents and Teachers as Partners (PTP) is selling the 1999-2000 t-shirt and sweatshirt Together We Stand Hand In Hand.' The sweatshirt is $15 and the short-sleeved t-shirt is $10. Both of these shirts are available in youth and adult sizes. New this year is a long-sleeved t-shirt, which is priced at $15 and is available in adult sizes only. To order call Vickey Wood at 887-1367 or Dianne Wolfe at 887-1850. All proceeds from this sale fund and support Prescott Elementary School and its students through the PTP organization. The annual Wicker reunion will be held Sunday, September 12, in the Prescott Housing Authority community room. The McNeely family reunion will be the October 10 in the community center at Hope's Fair Park. Everyone is welcome. Potluck is at 1 p.m. The Nevada County Conservation District has one no-till drill for rent. You can reserve the drill now by calling 887-3210 or go by the office at 403 E. 2nd Street. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Wednesday. There are also some bluebird boxes available from the conservation district. The Blevins School Board of Directors will host its annual report to the public Monday, September 13, at 7 p.m. in the Blevins School cafeteria. Principals from each of the two schools will present goals and objectives for the current year, any deficiencies for staff certification, as well as new and innovative practices for the current school term. The superintendent will provide information on the bond issue scheduled to mature in the year 2001 and any plans for any new proposals for patrons to consider in September of 2000. Everyone is invited to attend this important meeting. Emmet School board will have its regular monthly meeting Monday, September 13, at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria. The annual report to the public will be held prior to the regular board meeting. Anyone interested in Emmet School is invited to attend. Nevada County Health Alliance will host the Chamber of Commerce coffee on Thursday, September 9, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. This will help announce the annual Health Fair that will be held Saturday, September 11. The fair will be held in the Christus St. Michael community room. Everyone is invited. The Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for Love's ad Hardee's on Wednesday, September 15, at 9 a.m. This will be held at their new store out Highway 19N at Interstate 30 (exit 46).
