Nevada County Picayune and Gurdon Times Newspaper Archive |
Bluff CityJerry McKelvyPublished Wednesday, December 22, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune If you haven't got your shopping done yet, you probably belong to that group of people called procrastinators. I hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday season. I have been hearing that the moon will be unusually bright on December 22. Hopefully, the skies will be clear and we can check it out. They say the last time it happened was 133 years ago and will not happen again for about 100 years. If your dogs start to howl, this may be the reason. I finally got the name of Stacy and Jennifer Hildebrand's new daughter. Her name is Timbrel Isabella Hildebrand. Here are a few things to ponder: 1. Why are there interstate highways in Hawaii? 2. Why do we drive on parkways and park in driveways? 3. How is it possible to have a civil war? 4. If the No. 2 pencil is the most popular, why is it still No. 2? With all the talk of Y2K and the problems it might cause, I except the rest of this month to be somewhat unusual. Some people are stocking up on everything from bottled water to toilet paper. If you stock up on toilet paper, make sure its Y2K compliant or when the year changes, it might roll back to 1900 and turn into Sears & Roebuck catalog.
