Blue Jays Hammer Blevins Squd, 61-35BY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, December 22, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Nevada's Blue Jays hammered the Blevins Hornets, 61-35,Friday, Dec. 17. The Jays had a balanced scoring attack throughout the game as three players scored in double figures. Period one opened with Nevada dominating the Hornets 14-2 and pretty much sealing the win. This set the tone for the rest of the game. Both teams added 12 to their totals in the second quarter, pushing the score to 26-14, with the Nevada defense all but shutting Blevins down in the third. The final eight minutes dawned with the Jays leading 42-21. Jamarrio Beasley led the Jay attack with 14, while the duo of Keon Page and J.J. Lewis scored 12 each. Newton led Blevins with nine. At the line, the Jays converted 15 of 26, while the Hornets netted 11 of 25. In the contest, the Hornets only scored 11 field goals, including one trey.
