Branson Trip EndsPublished Wednesday, December 15, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Prescott Trailblazers recently visited Branson, Mo., to see the Christmas shows. There were 42 who went on the trip. They left Saturday, November 13. When they arrived in Branson they had reservations to see Mel Tillis' beautiful show. Mel was joined on stage by his talented children. Saturday night they went to Mickey Gilley's spectacular show. The group enjoyed the great music, the electrifying band and the hilarious antics of Joey Riley. The Trailblazers had reservations Sunday afternoon to see the Jim Stafford Christmas show. Stafford delights the whole family with hilarious comedy, spectacular effects and music. Sunday night the group went to the Country Tonite Theatre. This show was voted the best live country show in America three consecutive years by the Country Music Association of America. Those making the trip from Prescott were tour director Sybil Sherman, Bobbie Gautsche, John L. and Lenora McWilliams, Elizabeth Haltom, Evelyn Daniel, Gertrude Firmin, Rosemary Partney, Paul and Earlene Harris, Darrell and Vickie Glass, Billy Ridling, Curtis Lee and Mary Johnson, Verna Martin, Virginia Easterling, Mariam Purtle, Lois McCain, Mary Lou Grimes, Bobbie Brown, Bud Vandiver, Lois McAnally, Mary Richey, Betty Turner, Judy Shackelford, Jody Smith and Mary Loe. Others going were Polly Caldwell of Benton; from Sutton, Mary Adams; from Camden, Vener Manning; from Hope, James and Leta Morrow and Grady and Canelia Hasley; from Hot Springs, Margie Compton; from Texarkana, Mary Jo Arnold; from Magnolia, George and Leola Garrard; from Summitt, Mo., Peggy Butrick; and from Shreveport, La., David Richardson.
