Harvey R. BarhamPublished Wednesday, December 15, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneHarvey R. Barham Sr. of Dallas, Texas, born May 13, 1932, went to be with our Lord Saturday, December 11, 1999. He was born to a loving mother and father who was a Baptist preacher. He grew up with an understanding and love for his fellow man. He went to Dallas in 1957, where he joined the Dallas Police Department, where he retired after 24 years. Thereafter, he served as a lieutenant with the Dallas County Sheriff's office and worked with his wife in her law office. Harvey was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Jesters and a supporter of the Scottish Rite Hospital. He was a rock to his family and a wonderful friend to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Criss Barham, who was a pastor in the Missionary Baptist Church for many years, his mother, Ola Mae Holt Barham, his sisters, Aline Burley and Helen Martin, and a brother, M.C. Barham, who was also a pastor in the Missionary Baptist Church for many years. He will be sorely missed by his friends and family including his wife and sweetheart of 41 years, Ruth Barham, who loved him more than life itself, as well as their son, Harvey Jr., of Cedar Hill, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Doug Zirkle; grandchildren, Rachel, Laura and Christopher Zirkle all of Hayden, Colo., his sister, Ida Mae Rawlins of Little Rock, and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 16, at 10 a.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Prescott with burial to follow in the Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
