RedlandHazel MeeksPublished Wednesday, December 15, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune It's so hard to start news with sad news such as this. One of our local boys, Harvey Barham, who made their home in Texas many years passed away Friday night. His family will have a funeral at his home town on Tuesday morning and his request was a funeral at Shady Grove Baptist Church and burial will be in Liberty Cemetery on Thursday after the 10 o'clock service at Shady Grove. Please call any Shady Grove member for further information. The body will be at Shackelford Funeral Home for visitation on Wednesday evening. Jerry, Corinna, Shelbi and Sara Booker celebrated an early Christmas at the home of Jerry Booker's family. Those attending were Corey and Kayce Booker, Dalton, Niki, Abby, Tori, Tate and Jamie Booker, all of Emmet. Pat, Wanda and Samantha Ballard helped Pat's father celebrate his father, Jim Ballard's birthday on Sunday. The family of the late Glendene and Thurman Haynie had their Christmas get together on Friday at the old home place. Fifty or more were in attendance. On Thursday night Cherrie Wilson took Granny Mozelle to the Christmas parade, where Shady Grove Baptist Church won third place with its float. Cherrie and Katy visited Granny Mozelle at Hillcrest and Rehab on Tuesday. Cherrie and Katy Wilson baked Danny, Lisa, Kyle and Caley Pennington a fresh loaf of banana nut bread. Poor Penningtons. LaNell Nash missed church last Sunday and where she was is a mystery. Nell, you better start reporting or we're gonna began to suspect things. I only got to know Mr. Harvey Barham in the past three years, but I feel like I have known him all of my life. When he would come to Redland to visit, he would usually come by the courthouse. I would say I've never known another person that was so easy to make friends with. As the old saying goes, to have known Mr. Harvey was to have loved him. He will truly be missed by anybody whose life that he ever touched, but we all know that he is having a grand ole time with our Lord right now.
