Oak GroveLula Q. KendrickPublished Wednesday, December 15, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Christmas is just around the corner. Just pray that we will be around to see it. People are really passing away. One of our friends, Mrs. Lewis B. Simpson Rogers, Seban and Katie Simpson's daughter, formerly of Rosston, has passed away. Her funeral was held in Cleveland, Ohio. Ruthell Tidwell's funeral was held Saturday in Malvern at Visitors Chapel AME Church with Rev. W.G. Wynn being her pastor. Several of her cousins from Rosston went to her funeral, Ira Lou Long and husband; Daisy Mae Gulley and others. There was a benefit program given for Josie Simpson and Gloria Elliott and Fannie Young at Bethel AME Church Sunday afternoon. These people have been on our sick list a good while. People really did turn out in the rain. They say it was really nice. I went to church Sunday morning for the first time in a while. I don't hardly miss going anywhere. George had a sick spell while I was at church. Pray for me; my hands are full. But people have really been good to us. Mr. and Mrs. M.T. Gulley visited us Sunday night after the benefit program at Bethel. Mrs. Vera Purifoy came by and helped me put up Christmas decorations and hem up some draperies. I am very proud of her. She will help you if she can. She really does visit the sick people. Sis. Loreace Burse and Sis. Franklin visited me and had prayer. Sis. Franklin is a sweet person and Christian walker. Sis. Burse is a beautiful person. She washed my hair. She is sincere in what she does. May God bless these ladies. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
