1949 GHS Graduates Hold 50th ReunionPublished Wednesday, December 15, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesThe 1949 graduates of Gurdon High School, their spouses and friends recently met October 29 at DeGray Lake State Park Lodge for their 50th class reunion. Five members of the class are deceased. They are Arlen Williams, Billy George Draper, Anne Lou Bullard, Henry Bennett and Henry Miller. After the banquet Marlon Harper's five-piece band, The Music Makers, of Hot Springs entertained the group for an hour with big band music of the 1940's and 50's. The 22 surviving members are Joyce Neathery Bradshaw of Hot Springs, Barbara Smith Sitzes of Hope, Jean Spruill Martin of Gurdon, Wanda Emmert Broussard of Houston, Texas, Veda Todd Owens of Arkadelphia, Bobbie Hart McKinnon of Jacksonville, Charlene Boyd Bartholt of Muleshoe, Texas, Billie Jean Morris Miller of Gurdon, Ursula Stephens Alley of Austin, Texas, Carroll Floyd of Sarasota, Fla., Charles Hasley of Garland, Texas, Jimmy Taylor of Bush, La., W.A. 'Buddy' Jennings of Texarkana, Texas, John E. Wray of Gurdon, Henry W. Wood of Texarkana, Texas, Kenneth Brown of Arlington, Texas, Bill Newton of Curtis, Paul Wenzel of Houston, Texas, Marlon Harper of Hot Springs, Norma Dickerson Hibbs of Alexandria, Va., Ruth Nelson Coulter of Midland, Texas, and Romey Jackson of Hot Springs.
