More than 200 undergraduate students and approximately 85 graduate students will march in Henderson State University's winter commencement ceremony.

Graduating from Gurdon with a bachelor of business administration degree is April Hatley. John Bloomfield and Scott Horne will receive bachelor of science degrees. Bloomfield is a cum laude graduate. Cary Goza will graduate with a bachelor science in education degree. Misty Calley and Ferman McClure Jr. will graduate with a bachelor of arts degrees.

Freddie Horne and Libby White will receive with a master of science in education degrees.

Commencement will be Friday, December 17, at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively at the Wells Center.


The University of Central Arkansas will hold its winter commencement Sat., Dec. 18, in the Farris Center on the UCA campus in Conway, with 518 candidates for undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Shandy Ricketts Toland and Heather Spruill will both be graduating at the commencement.

Shandy Toland will receive a master of science in physical therapy. She completed her undergraduate work at UCA in May of 1998, with a bachelor's in health sciences degree.

Toland plans to begin her career as a physical therapist in the area of pediatrics. She and her husband, Jamie Toland, currently live in Conway.

Toland is the daughter of Troy and Mary Ricketts and the granddaughter of Ruthie Mae Stroud, all of Gurdon.

Spruill will be a cum laude graduate of UCA. She received a bachelor's of arts in biology from Ouachita Baptist University. She will be receiving a bachelor's of science in occupational therapy.

She lives in Conway with her husband, Kenny Spruill. She is the daughter of Tom Ed Brandon and the late Patti Price Brandon of Crowley, La. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Virginia Brandon and the late Tommy Brandon of Gurdon and Kenneth Price and the late Mrs. Wilma Price of Arkadelphia.
