Owen SpriggsPublished Wednesday, December 8, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesOwen Spriggs, 79, of Texarkana, Texas, formerly of Whelen Springs, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, in a Texarkana hospital. Mr. Spriggs was born Nov. 23, 1920, in Glenwood. He was retired from Hornet Oil Co. and Montgomery Ward Co. He was a 32nd degree mason, a member of Wake Village Masonic Lodge and a retired U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Helen Spriggs of Texarkana; one son, Mike Spriggs of Texarkana; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Glen Kennedy and Kathy and James Dugan of Texarkana; one brother, Tommy Spriggs of Texarkana; two grandchildren, Sandy Gleghorn and Paul Ray Kennedy; and two great grandchildren. Services were Tuesday, Nov. 30, at East Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Garner officiating. Burial was in East Memorial Garden Cemetery in Texarkana.
