Classy Moments

Published Wednesday, December 8, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

We extend a big welcome to four new Cabe Middle School students. We always enjoy having students move into the Gurdon School District and become a part of CMS. We may be a little bit greedy, as we sure do not enjoy losing any students to other schools.

The CMS Student Council will conduct the monthly assembly Friday, Dec. 17, beginning at 8:45 a.m. The program will be a talent show. Students are encouraged to take part in the program. You are invited to attend this program, as it should be a day of fun.

Several CMS band students, Kim Hulan, Robin LeMay, Connie Smith, L. John Failla, and Blake Deaton, will be performing for the Gurdon Senior Adult Center Wed., Dec. 8, and for the Rotary Club Thurs., Dec. 9.

The junior high cheerleaders are so excited, as they selected new uniforms after careful consideration. The only problem or stipulation is they must sell the remaining 22 Go-Devil throws. These would make excellent Christmas gifts. They are reversible with purple on one side and gold on the other and the Go-Devil on each side. For only $35 make your Christmas shopping complete by calling Linda Bullard at 353-4311. Don't be left out, as there are only 22 treasures remaining. Also, keep in mind that you will be helping those cheerleaders to be able to make the purchase of the new uniforms that they would like to have. These 12 young ladies work hard and long hours to share the Go-Devil spirit with the fans. Good job.

The food drive has started at CMS. Students are to help others by bringing non-perishable foods to share with those who might need a little help to have a nicer holiday. The first class that brings the most items will be treated to a big surprise treat. Out of date items will not be counted.

Basketball season is in full swing. We have shared in wins and, sadly, we have shared defeats. Win or lose, we are proud of our teams. We know that they do their best and that is all we ask of them. Go, teams!

We are beginning to get the Christmas spirit around here. It may not be for you, but it certainly is difficult for us to believe that we are nearing the end of a semester for this school year.

Several are going shopping over the weekend, and some we hear say that they are going to sleep all weekend. Whatever they do, just remember that they are part of the Classy Moments at CMS.
