Gertrude L. Snowden

Gertrude L. Snowden, 83, of Delight died Tuesday, November 30, 1999, at a Murfreesboro nursing home.

Mrs. Snowden was born February 9, 1916, in Anotine to Jiles and Charlotte Young Jones. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Goy Jett Snowden, and by one son, Leonard O. Snowden.

Survivors include seven sons, Samuel D. Snowden of Antoine; Cota Snowden and John Snowden of Fitchburg, Mass., and James E. Snowden, Lawrence O. Snowden, Roy Snowden and Leotis Snowden of Antoine; seven daughters, Olivia Myles, Rose Oliver, Ethel L. Snowden and Sandra Snowden all of Fitchburg; Evelyn Fricks of Freeport, Ill., Dorothy J. Meeks of Okolona and Alfrita Brown of Sumter, S.C.; one brother, Odell Jones of Ypsilanti, Mich.; 28 grandchildren; 41 great great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services were Tuesday, December 7, at Harrison Chapel Baptist Church in Antoine with Elder Cota Snowden officiating. Burial was in Harrison Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
