Oak GroveLula Q. KendrickPublished Wednesday, December 8, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune What I want to be: I want to be thankful to open my eyes, that I may see the blessings thou hast given me. To show my thankfulness to thee, dear Lord, help me do. I am sure everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving day. My friends brought our dinner. The food was really good. I did not think I had so many people who cared. Our mail carrier's sister, Loudene Johnson Dossey, of Cale was buried Saturday in Cale Cemetery. She was a sweet person and will be missed by everyone who knew her. My sympathy goes out to the Johnson family. Ruthell Tidwell passed away Saturday. She lived in Malvern. Her funeral has not been arranged at this writing. Our courthouse really looks good. I've never seen it so beautiful. Rev. and Sister Velma Lupo from Dallas, Texas, visited her sister, Mrs. Vera Purifoy Thanksgiving. Mrs. Purifoy really has been nice to me and my husband. She is not well herself. She has her house looking good. It is decorated so pretty. Mrs. Janet Smith's place is really pretty, too. We have a lot of sick people around. Let's pray for our sick and shut in. My neighbor, Mrs. Margie Johnson, has been good to us. She checks on us. I never will forget Miss Zammie Gulley as she was especially good to us. You never know who your friends are until you get sick. She never forgot a thing. God bless her. Mrs. Ira Lou Long is such a sweet person.
