Anyone interested in participating in the parade needs to call the chamber at 887-2101. Deadline to enter is December 3. Emmet's annual Christmas 'Night of Lights' will be held Saturday, December 11. Line up is at the Emmet School at 6 p.m. for the parade, which will start at 6:30 p.m. Santa and refreshments will be at the City Hall afterwards. Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellow-ship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991. Mom's in Touch weekly prayer group, praying for local schools and children, meet Tuesdays at 1:45 at First Baptist Church. Call 887-6376 for more information. A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be at the Nevada County Courthouse Wednesday, December 22.. Supplemental security income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. To find out if you are eligible, call 1-800-772-1213. The UACCH Upward Bound program is coming to Prescott High School. Upward Bound serves students by complementing their education and preparing them for college. For more information and an application packet, contact the Upward Bound office at 870- 722-8157. Prescott Rotary Club will sponsor a person to join a group study exchange with Turkey. Team members will stay with Rotary families while in Turkey. They will make presentations about Arkansas at local Rotary Clubs, learn about Turkey and spend vocational days seeing how their job is done in another part of the world. To qualify you must be 25 to 40 years old and active in your profession for at least two years. Rotary International will pay travel expenses. The administration of the Blevins School District invites its patrons to attend either of two meetings at the school's cafetorium. These meetings are efforts to receive input from the district's communities on important matters coming before the school in the near future. The meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, December 8, at 9 a.m. and Thursday, December 9, beginning at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Patrons of the Nevada County Library owing fines (especially long overdue fines) can have all fines forgiven during the week of December 6-10. You should take your overdue books inside during regular hours or leave in the book return outside. Library hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. On December 26 beginning at 11 a.m. Mt. Ephesus Baptist Church will be having a memorial service for all members who have passed. All family members and friends are invited. Union Missionary Baptist Church will have family day Sunday, December 12, starting at 10:30 a.m. Dinner will be held after morning services with singing in the afternoon. Take your family members and join them for preaching, singing and good home cooking. The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce will have a ribbon-cutting and open house for Two Morrow's Petals and Two Morrow's Tea Room. This event will take place on Thursday, December 9. The ribbon cutting for the Tea Room will be at 10 a.m. The open house for the Tea Room will last from 10 to 11 a.m. The open house for Two Morrow's Petals will be all day.
