BodcawAline ClausPublished Wednesday, December 1, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune The Thanksgiving Day of feasting is gone. Are we still thankful for the many blessings of life? A lot of families had a lot of visitors. J.D. and Marie Allen had all their family visiting except one granddaughter, Amy, and her husband. They included, Mike and Jackie Allen of Lincoln, Butch, Pat, Jason and Julie Wilbanks of Little Rock; and Andy and Collene Allen of Hot Springs. They also had Colen and Marilyn Bridge, Carolyn Key and others from Camden. Marie and Joey Tye had Jeanette and Bob Spencer and family of El Dorado; Labe and Linda Haynie of Prescott and a number of other grandchildren. Ruth Baker and family and the Aaron family met at the church fellowship hall. There were about 45 in attendance. Ruby Mullins of the Dallas area was there. Deck and Earlene had all their family except Chad couldn't make it. Then on Friday Brandi and little Wesley came and stayed until Sunday. Chris Butler was here on leave from Ft. Sill. He got to hunt a little, but no luck. He had to return on Sunday. Marguerite Dorman said she had a house full. I didn't get all the names. Mary Anna Dorman had all her family. It was good to have Lola Allen back in church after her heart attack and stay in the hospital. Bobbie Allen has a broken foot, which has really slowed him down. Don't know what happened. Mr. and Mrs. David Phelps and girls, who sings with the Gaither Vocal Band have been visiting their parents in Texas. They spent Monday night with grandmother Norris Daniels. She was looking forward to this visit. Norris Daniels of Bodcaw and Elsie Lewis of Waldo spent Thanksgiving with Toby and Betty Rowe. Noel and Ruby Carlton of Nashville visited Deck and Earlene Butler and me on Sunday evening. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
