Classy Moments

Published Wednesday, December 1, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

We hope that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Of course, we enjoyed our vacation, being with so many relatives, and having so much food.

Now we are back in school and ready to continue our work. The seventh graders enjoyed pizza and Coke after we received their Stanford 9 test results. Needless to say, they enjoyed the pizza.

The students who had not been sent to D-hall during the first nine weeks were given free time Tuesday before we got out for Thanksgiving. Although it is difficult to get those students to leave their classes, they finally decided to go outside and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Can you believe that?

The citizen students for the month of November and the Beta student of the month had a delicious lunch at Allen's Barbeque and Grill with Principal Jeff Alexander.

The Beta Club held its induction for new Beta members. Several parents attended and enjoyed pinning their child as a Beta member.

Ann Clingan received word that she had been awarded a grant to purchase a wheel chair for Cabe Middle School. We hope we will never have to use it, but since we do have a distance to go from building to building, it will be really nice for someone to use that may have crutches for some reason.

Our media center received 314 new books for the accelerated reading program.

Such a joy seeing students with library books, passing the tests, and checking out more books. Carla Jester, with the help of Debbie McBride, had a lot of work to do to get the new books ready for the shelves. Good job.

Although we only had two days of school last week, we continued to make those Classy Moments at CMS.
