Golden OldiesDoris VancePublished Wednesday, December 1, 1999 in the Gurdon Times Last Wednesday some senior adult ladies dressed in bonnets and long dresses and demonstrated to the Head Start children how we used to do our laundry, ironing and churning butter. I didn't realize years ago when I used them how heavy a flat iron was. We heated them on the wood cook stove and did our ironing. We will play bingo Monday and have group singing on Tuesday. The birthday party will be on Tuesday also. Those with November birthdays are Arlene Cathey, Esteele Bear, Harvey McCray, Stella McClure, Mable Ball, Edward Anderson, Birdie Quarles, Paul Rudolph, Erma Sandidge, Alfred Smith, Eulah Wilson, Geneva Caldwell, Austin Capps, Lavelle Easley, Vida Gills, Adell Tucker, Thomas Bray, Evelyn Carson and Corinthia Hale. Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving holiday. As we go into the Christmas holiday, let us not forget what the meaning of Christmas really is.
