WCG Hears Of History

Published Wednesday, November 24, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

The Women of the Church of God met Tues., Nov. 16. There were eight members in attendance. They were Thelma Mizell, Doris Vance, Eulah Wilson, Shirley Smithpeters, Vivian Spruill, Janet Toland, Velvet Gonzales and Jeannie Burchfield.

Janet Toland was the hostess and program leader.

First the women discussed the history of the WCG and compared the goals of the first WCG with today's WCG goals. Then each one shared about talents they possessed by sharing crafts, paintings, songs, quilts or scrapbooks they have made. Next, members wrote down other talents and qualities they see in each lady.

Later Janet read The Legend of the Candy Cane, gave each woman a candy cane and encouraged each one to share the story whenever they give away a candy cane during the Christmas season.

Finally, the group enjoyed refreshments and fellowship.
