The third annual Christmas Parade will be held December 9 at 6 p.m. in downtown Prescott. Anyone interested in participating in the parade needs to call the chamber at 887-2101. Deadline to enter is December 3.


Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellow-ship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday

evenings at 8:00 in the church. For

Mom's in Touch weekly prayer group, praying for local schools and children, meet Tuesdays at 1:45 at First Baptist Church. Call 887-6376 for more information.


A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be at the Nevada County Courthouse Tues., Dec. 21.

Supplemental security income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. To find out if you are eligible, call 1-800-772-1213.


Poor Boy Riding Club is starting its annual membership drive. It has family oriented trail rides, camp outs and monthly meetings fun for the whole family.

A basic mathematics class will be offered each Monday from 3:45 to 4:45 at Prescott High School in room 110. The class is free of charge and is offered for any one in grade five and up. Anyone in the community is welcomed to come.

Sheri and Tony Gulley of Rosston are proud to announce the birth of their twin sons, Braylon Keon, who weighed 4 pounds and 8 ounces, and Jaylon Deon, who weighed 4 pounds and 2 ounces. They were born Monday, November 15, 1999, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.

Grandparents are Mary Lou Brown and Allen Wilson and Yvonne Gulley and Owen Gulley.

Big sister and brother Shabrea and Antonio welcomed them home.


The city of Emmet will not pick up trash on Thursday, November 25, Thanksgiving Day. However, trash will be picked up Friday, November 26.

Regular schedule will resume next week.


Cheyenne 'Chey' Paige Lathrop arrived on Sunday, November 14, 1999, at 11:24 p.m. She weighed 8 pounds and 2 ounces and was 20 inches long.

She was welcomed home by her daddy and mommy, Jerry 'Cowboy' and Rae Lathrop, and big brother Zack Avery.


Southwest Arkansas Development Council will sponsor the December Chamber of Commerce coffee on Thursday, December 2.

It will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Nevada County Senior Citizens Center. Everyone is invited to attend.


The UACCH Upward Bound program is coming to Prescott High School. Upward Bound serves students by complementing their education and preparing them for college.

The Prescott Rotary Club would like to sponsor a person to join a group study exchange with Turkey. Team members will stay with Rotary families while in Turkey. They will make presentations about Arkansas at local Rotary Clubs, learn about Turkey and spend vocational days seeing how their job is done in another part of the world.

To qualify you must be 25 to 40 years old and active in your profession for at least two years. Rotary International will pay travel expenses.
