Classy MomentsPublished Wednesday, November 17, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesThe weather continues to be nice and the students enjoy being able to go outside after lunch. They are enjoying soccer. For some, it is a real learning experience, but they seem to be quick learners and are really having a good time. More playground equipment is needed, as well as tables and benches. Friday the students who were not involved in any fights during the first nine weeks of school enjoyed a dance for about one hour. The fifth and six graders danced from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., and the seventh and eighth graders from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. A great time was enjoyed. The Beta Club sold snow cones after lunch and during the dance. You can still order a yearbook from the CMS Student Council by sending a check for $15 to Ann Clingan at Cabe Middle School to reserve a copy. Officers have been elected by the CMS Quiz Club. They are Robyn Lemay, president; Josh Lockwood, vice president; Hayli Coon, secretary-treasurer; and Britta Halliday, reporter. Congratulations. Quiz Club sponsor is Kay Downey. Our eighth graders have been very successful in reciting the Preamble of the Constitution. They are studying the Constitution and all 27 amendments. They are busy taking notes during filmstrips and videos, so they are expected to obtain knowledge about "the supreme law of the land." Several of our students are looking forward to going deer hunting. My goodness, they are anxious. We just ask that they be very careful. Wed., Nov. 17, at 1:00 p.m. the Student Council will have an assembly. The program will be three international students attending OBU who will talk to the students about the various differences in living in Arkansas as compared to their home country. We feel that we are a special group of people at CMS. We have many activities to challenge the students, and they certainly have many challenges for the faculty and staff. We stay busy making those Classy Moments. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
