Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellowship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991.


Mom's in Touch weekly prayer group, praying for local schools and children, meet Tuesdays at 1:45 at First Baptist Church. Call 887-6376 for more information.


A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be at the Nevada County Courthouse Tues., Nov. 23, and Tues., Dec. 21.

Supplemental security income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. To find out if you are eligible, call 1-800-772-1213.


The Veterans Mobile Health Screening Clinic will be at First United Methodist Church in Prescott Tues., Nov. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This mobile clinic is presented as a community service by Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System in Little Rock.

All services are free and open to all veterans. Veterans can receive free blood pressure checks, flu shots, weight/height checks, blood sugar screenings, cholesterol screenings and get answers to their questions about eligibility and available services such as women veterans' programs, mental health information, patient education and much more.


Poor Boy Riding Club is starting its annual membership drive. It has family oriented trail rides, camp outs and monthly meetings fun for the whole family.

Marty and Raegan Williams of Texarkana with great joy announce the birth of their son, Michael Wren Williams.

He was born Monday, October 25, 1999. Wren weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces and was 21+ inches long.

Proud grandparents are Mike and Becky Huett of Prescott, Dwight and Marion Williams of Texarkana and Carl and Brenda Vandever of Midland, Texas. Great grandparents are Raymond and Louise Huett and Robert and Dee Scott of Prescott and Roscoe and Marguerite Williams of Rosston.


Sherri and Kevin Smith are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Rayleigh Marie.

She was born Tuesday, November 5, weighing 6 pounds and 7 ounces and she was 19 inches long.

Proud grandparents are Gary and Glenda Lewis of Prescott and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Smith of Pontiac, Ill.


A reception will be held Tues., Nov. 23, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. to honor Jon Chadwell, new Prescott-Nevada Economic director. It will be held at the Bank of Prescott.

Everyone is invited to attend.


New Beginning at 113 East Elm will sponsor a youth day program Sun., Nov. 21, at 3 p.m.

Special guest will be New Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Gurdon. Guest speaker will be Rev. Quinton Radford.


A basic mathematics class will be offered each Monday from 3:45 to 4:45 at Prescott High School in room 110. The class is free of charge and is offered for any one in grade five and up. Anyone in the community is welcomed to come.

Walter L. McGill Jr. of Prescott and Patricia Ann Jones of Hope are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Angeloise Patrice McGill, on Fri., Nov. 12, 1999.

She weighed 7 pounds and was 19 inches long.

Grandparents are Walter L. McGill of Prescott, Eloise McGill of Prescott and Emma Jones of Hope.
