Jerry H. SteelePublished Wednesday, November 17, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneSgt. Major (retired) Jerry H. Steele, 60, of Indianapolis, Ind., died Tuesday, November 9, 1999, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis. Mr. Steele was born in Prescott January 17, 1939, the son of Arnold and Gladys Montgomery Steele, who preceded him in death. A brother, Robert Steele, also preceded him in death. He was an army veteran, retiring after 30 years of service to his country. He served in France, Vietnam, Germany and Italy. He graduated with a master's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. He was employed as a systems accountant for the Department of Defense at Fort Benjamin Harrison Finance Center in Indianapolis. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Christiane Sandrat Steele; two sons, Philippe and Patrick Steele of Indianapolis; one daughter, Patricia Woods of Temple, Texas; two grandchildren, Adrian Steele and Sabrina Christiane Woods; two sisters, Sue Ward of Prescott and Linda Hooper of Joshua, Texas; two brothers, Ray Steele of Hope and Danny Steele of Prescott; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Sat., Nov. 13, at First United Methodist Church in Prescott with Rev. Jim Lenderman and Maj. Gen. Stephen R. Woods Jr. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott. Mr. Steele received full military honors.
