Bluff CityJerry McKelvyPublished Wednesday, November 17, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Deer hunters have swarmed on the woods of this area and guns are popping everywhere. I hope everyone has a safe and successful hunt. Earl Johnson of Camden, formerly of this area, suffered a heart attack a few days ago. At last report he was in a Little Rock hospital. Eddy and Connie McKelvy spent a few days traveling to Ontario, Canada, to fetch an antique car. They covered about 3,000 miles in a pickup pulling a trailer, so it was not the most comfortable way to travel. They said it was about to snow when they left Canada. After the time changed, I spend more time driving at night. I would like to thank whoever is responsible for putting the reflectors on the center line of Highway 24 toward Camden. They really help when driving at night or in fog. It will soon be time to start planting pine seedlings, but it may have to be delayed due to the warm weather and lack of rainfall. This has been an extremely dry year and many trees of all ages have died as a result. This week's thought: 'Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just lack film.'
