Chili, chili-dogs, Fritos- chili pie and soft drinks will be sold from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Come by for lunch or supper, and have you choice of chili meals. The city of Gurdon reminds residents the storm sirens are tested every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Sirens are not tested during inclement weather. Lera and Greg Pope of Gurdon are proud to announce the birth of their son, Jesse Cole, born Thurs., Oct. 7, 1999. at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. He weighed 6 pounds and 15 ounces. Grandparents are Bob and Saundra McGulliard and Dub and Charlotte Pope all of Gurdon and Larry and Pam Spark of Arkadelphia. Great grandmother is Leslie Tucker of Curtis. Big sister Jennifer welcomed him home. Hollywood Baptist Church will be hosting a singing, Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m. Billy Freeman and the 'Son' Liners will perform. Everyone is invited. The board of directors of Southwest Central Regional Solid Waste Management District will meet at 10:00 a.m. Wed., Nov. 17, at the offices of West Central Arkansas Planning and Development Dist. in Hot Springs. Arkansas Rehabilitation Services will hold sessions at the Gurdon Municipal Building on Nov. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. For information call 353-2514. The newly formed Lions Club is now able to begin collecting old eye glasses. The collection point in Gurdon is First Baptist Church or you can call Charles Shaver at 353-4640. Old glasses are recycled by Lions International. Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend. Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon. For more information, phone 353-4698.
