A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be at the Nevada County Courthouse on Thursday, October 28; Tuesday, November 23, and Tuesday, December 21. Supplemental security income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. To find out if you are eligible, call 1-800-772-1213. The next diabetic education meeting will be held Wednesday, November 10, at 2:00 p.m. with the topic being skin care. The speaker will be Rob Savage, RPT. This meeting will take place at the Alliance Home Health, 300 E. Second South. Sponsors are AllCare Pharmacy, Alliance Home Health Care and Nevada County Cooperative Extension Service. November 10-14 will be revival at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Harrell Rodebush. It will start at 7:00 nightly and Sunday at 10:40 a.m. and will be followed by potluck at the church and afternoon service at 2 p.m. Everyone is invited. The Veterans Mobile Health Screening Clinic will be at the First United Methodist Church in Prescott Tuesday, Nov. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This mobile clinic is presented as a community service by the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System in Little Rock. All services are free and open to all veterans. Veterans can receive free blood pressure checks, flu shots, weight/height checks, blood sugar screenings, cholesterol screenings and get answers to your questions about eligibility and available services such as women veterans' programs, mental health information, patient education and much more. Poor Boy Riding Club is starting its annual membership drive. It has family oriented trail rides, camp outs and monthly meetings fun for the whole family. For more information call 777-6884 or 777-4537. Joseph and Lexie Ledbetter would like to announce the birth of their sister, Mallory Quinn Ledbetter, who was born Friday, October 15, 1999. She weighed 7 pounds and 10+ ounces and was 20 inches long. Her parents are Charles and Ronda Ledbetter. Maternal grandparents are Margaret and Ed Falkenstien of Middleton, Idaho. Paternal grandparents are Ellis 'Joe' and Ruby Ledbetter of Prescott. The great grandmother is Pauline McKinnon of Prescott. Whites Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, located between Bodcaw and Willisville on County Road 7, will have a fellowship lunch and afternoon singing Sunday, November 14. Regular Sunday school will be at 10 a.m. with worship service at 11 a.m. A potluck lunch will be followed by special singing beginning about 1:30 p.m. The day's featured singers will be the Union Hill Singers, formerly known as The Ambassadors. Nevada High School's 1998-99 year books have arrived and may be picked up beginning Wednesday, November 10, at 1 p.m. at the high school office. You need to take your receipt or canceled check. Installation service was held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Sunday, November 7, for Rev. J.C. Owens. It was conducted by P.B. Sharp, moderator of the Southwest District. Everyone is invited to worship with at Pleasant Grove on the first and third Sundays. A Chamber of Commerce coffee will be held Wednesday, November 17, with Prescott School District Education Association sponsoring it from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Prescott Middle School.
