Oak Grove

A revival was held at Cana AME Church June 14-18. The theme was 'Soul in a Special Way.' Rev. Lessly Banks is the pastor. Rev. Thomas W. Adair was presiding and guest evangelist was Rev. Eugene Toney, pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church in Hope, St. Mark Baptist Church in Prescott. It was a really good revival. I attended three nights.

Jaylon Anderson of Bluff City won first place in the Chicken and Egg Festival in the pageant. He is the 1999 Little Mister Rooster. He is the son of Tanga Anderson and grandson of Mrs. Rosie Fort of Bluff City.

Sis. Clara Mae (Purifoy) Sims' funeral was held Friday, June 18, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Highway 299 in Bluff City. Rev. James Fred Williams is the pastor. Rev. Wallace Ingram officiated. It was her request that her nephew attend her funeral. The was the mother of 11 and one adopted daughter. She was the grandmother of 39 and great grandmother of 70.

Mrs. Velma Mixon and her sister, Jean Dansby, visited George and me. We were glad to see them. It did him good. No one stopped to see him, but Elmer Lee Young. George has done a lot in the community for people. He has brought us all a mighty long way. I thank him for it.
