Nevada County Jail Escapees Captured At Different Sites

Timothy Hank Jackson, 23, and Michael Gulley, also 23, are now back in jail.

The two escaped from the Nevada County Jail Monday, Nov. 1, after Jackson overpowered a jailer.

The escape occurred when Jarrod Inscore, the jailer, was transferring Jackson to a different cell when Jackson turned on Inscore and a scuffle ensued.

Jackson managed to overwhelm the jailer and run. During the battle Gulley, who was not involved in the fight, saw an opening and fled.

Prescott Police officer Tyrone Butler was at the scene at the time, but was unable to stop the duo from running.

However, both Jackson and Gulley were caught less than a week later.

Jackson was apprehended Wednesday, Nov. 3, and brought back to Nevada County from Leon County, Texas.

According to Nevada County Sheriff Steve Otwell, the NCSO got a call around 2 p.m. last Wednesday from the LSCO saying they had Jackson in custody.

Officers were dispatched at 4 p.m. to bring him back.

Otwell said when Jackson first escaped they had notified the Texas authorities because he had a girlfriend there and thought he would go see her.

It proved to be a good move as Jackson did just that. First, however, he disrobed as he fled, with the striped jail shirt and pants found in different places.

When Jackson made it to Emmet, he found a car owned by Jack Faulkner's son in a garage. The car had a full tank of gas and the keys were in it.

He took the vehicle and drove to Texas.

On Tuesday, Nov. 2, LCSO authorities had talked with Jackson's girlfriend, being told she didn't know where he was at the time.

But, the second time she was questioned, she came clean and admitted he had been at her place of work when officers first talked to her.

Eventually, she led officers to Jackson.

Gulley was able to maintain his freedom somewhat longer, but was picked up Thursday, Nov. 4, in Hot Springs.

Otwell said the NCSO learned members of Gulley's family living in Hot Springs were hiding him from the law.

Upon learning of his location, Otwell, working with the Arkansas State Police and Hot Springs Police Department, obtained a search warrant and picked Gulley up.

Neither suspect resisted officers Otwell said.

Gulley will have a felony escape charge added to the list he was facing. He was originally being held for probation revocation, first degree terroristic threatening and being a certain person in possession of a firearm. This last charge was formerly known as felon in possession of a firearm.

Jackson, though, won't be as lucky. Along with the 40 years he had been sentenced to for commercial burglary in connection with a series of thefts from businesses in Rosston, he will be charged with theft of property of more than $2,500, for the stolen car and felony escape.

However, Otwell said, in Jackson's case on Friday he had charges of being a habitual offender filed against him. This could lead to Jackson getting his jail time tripled.

ATV RECOVERED

An all-terrain vehicle belonging to Mark Baker has been recovered.

The ATV was stolen from the Baker residence Oct. 2, and was found in Columbia County.

Otwell said the ATV was recovered by the Columbia County Sheriff's Office and ASP.

The person who had the vehicle, he said, claimed it was bought from another party.

According to Otwell, authorities expect to be able to connect this theft with the theft of an ATV from the Dexter and Todd Butler residence.

ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING

An accidental shooting turned up a handgun possibly involved in a Pine Bluff crime.

Otwell said the NCSO got a call concerning an accidental shooting Sunday, Nov. 7 around 4 p.m.

Officers were dispatched to the scene in the Boughton Community, where they learned Franscisco Valesquez, 30, had accidentally shot himself in the leg with a .357 magnum revolver.

Hebb Sorrells recovered the weapon and slug from the scene, running a check on the pistol. It came back as being stolen from Jefferson County.

Valesquez told officers he had bought the gun earlier Sunday from someone.

The bullet apparently went through the meaty part of his thigh. As of Sunday night, Valesquez was being treated at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
