The city of Gurdon reminds residents the storm sirens are tested every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Sirens are not tested during inclement weather.


Abbey and Lindsy Smith are thrilled to announce the birth of their baby brother, Tanner Joseph. Tanner was born Thurs., Oct. 21, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. Weighing seven pounds and eight ounces, he measured 19+ long. His parents are Joey and Dawana Smith.

Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Orville Newberry, Wanda Smith and the late William Smith. Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Newberry, Mrs. Ruthie Mae Stroud and the late Clarence Stroud, all of Gurdon.


Arkansas Rehabilitation Services will hold sessions at the Gurdon Municipal Building on Nov. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. For information call 353-2514.


The board of directors of Central Arkansas Development Council will meet Sat., Nov. 6, at 1:00 p.m. at the Clarion Resort on the Lake in Hot Springs. Interested persons are invited to attend.


Amber Spradlin and Eric Giuliano of Arkadelphia are proud to announce the birth of their son, Evan Charles, Fri., Oct. 22, 1999.

He weighed 7 pounds and 9 ounces and 21 inches long.

Grandparents are Gene and Valerie Fisk of Arkadelphia; Bill and Jo-anne Craig of Arkadelphia; Steve and Sharron Spradlin of Arkadelphia and Chris Giulano of Everett, Mass. Great grandparents are Raymond and Shirley Clements and Margaret Spradlin all of Arkadelphia.

Big sister, Allie Giuliano, welcomed him home.


The newly formed Lions Club is now able to begin collecting old eye glasses. The collection point in Gurdon is First Baptist Church or you can call Charles Shaver at 353-4640. The club will also have a booth at the Forest Festival.

Old glasses are recycled by Lions International.


Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend.


Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon.
