Recycling Program To Begin

Published Wednesday, November 3, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

Starting Sat., Nov. 6, residents of Gurdon and this area can recycle newspapers, aluminum cans and household corrugated cardboard.

A trailer will be located in front of Gurdon City Hall and will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

This recycling program is being started for several reasons: to reduce the amount of waste going to the landfill, saving approximately $92 per ton for trash removal, and to keep the landfill from filling up too quickly.

The first steps are being taken in this program by recycling only the above mentioned items with hope that the citizens of Gurdon make recycling a habit and as one becomes more experienced, different items may be added to the list for recycling, such as plastic, glass, office paper, tin cans, etc.
