Cafeteria Staff Implements ProgramsPublished Wednesday, November 3, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Nevada School cafeteria staff has implemented several new additions to its program this year. One of the student's favorite is the new snack bar. The snack bar allows the students to choose between the type 'A' lunch and a burger basket or nachos everyday. Other items, such as chicken strips, pizza, crispitos, catfish strips and ham and cheese Pockets are offered on a rotating basis. Fresh fruit, Jungle Juice, desserts and fries are also available. The cafeteria provides a type 'A' breakfast each morning as well as breakfast in a bag. A portable stand in the high school allows those students who are busy with morning activities the opportunity to enjoy a nutritious breakfast. Another addition this year is the after school snack program. Monday through Thursday afternoons snacks are provided free of charge to students involved in after school activities. Those students who participate in after school day care, tutoring, club meetings, etc. and car riders are eligible to receive the snacks. The cafeteria staff also prepare meals, snacks and refreshments for school luncheons, meetings, banquets and reunions. Lottie Ferguson is the cafeteria director. Rosie Williams is in charge of meats and main dishes. Ethel Allen prepares the breads and desserts. Fruits and vegetables are done by Suzanne Cross. Martha Hicks and Mary Lou Ingram oversee the snack bar. Dishwasher room and after school snacks are tended by Eva Bowers. Bobbie Madison serves as cashier and cafeteria attendant. Natalie Harper prepares salads and is a cashier. Participation has been great in all of the new programs, according to school officials. Parents and community members are invited and encouraged to visit the cafeteria and eat with the students and staff. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
