Bluff City

I am sure everyone enjoyed the cooler weather the past few days. It will probably be the last cool spell until fall.

Funeral services were June 19 for Glen Walker who grew up in Bluff City. He had been bravely battling cancer for several months. Burial was in Bluff City Cemetery.

Also buried at Bluff City on the same day was Kenneth Walsh from Camden. He was connected to the Meador family by marriage. Our sympathies are extended to both of these families.

Britt Carman was recently nominated for the Armin Dressel community service award in Camden. Britt is the executive director of the Camden Boys and Girls Club. He is being recognized for his work to help the young people of Camden with such things as physical fitness, substance abuse awareness programs and computer literacy. Britt is the son of Bill and Linda Carman of Bluff City.

The Moore family reunion happened last weekend as scheduled. They enjoyed various activities, including some gospel singing on Saturday night and a good meal catered by Wood's at noon on Sunday. A large group attended church at Bluff City on Sunday. Byron Merritt led the singing, even breaking tradition by singing an extra song. Pearl and Lloyd Henson, missionaries to Zambia, Africa, were able to attend this reunion.

A thought this week: "Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, you're a mile away and you have his shoes."
