I'm already beginning to hear Christmas music being advertised on tv. I think the merchants would like us to be Christmas shopping year round.

Sandra Hildebrand made a trip to Indiana recently to visit relatives. We don't hear much about that state, but it does have some pretty scenery. We were here several years ago and visited Brown County, which is popular tourist destination known for its fall colors.

I am sorry to report two recent deaths in this area. Hollis Ingram passed away October 16 and Charlie Gulley on October 24.

The folks down at Greer-DeWoody deer camp have constructed a nice new building at their campsite. Looks like they are planning on doing some serious hunting.

If fishing is your sport, you might try Lower White Oak Lake. Due to a draw-down, the fish are hemmed up in a much smaller area.

In another week or so, this area will be transformed into a war zone. the troops will be moving in, getting their weapons sighted in, checking out the barracks, stocking the mess hall and planning their attack. Of course, I'm referring to the start of the modern gun deer season.

I hope everyone has adjusted to the time change by now. There are a few places in this country that do not practice this yearly ritual of having to change our clocks.

When the tide turns against you, and the current upsets your boat, don't waste tears on what might have been, just lie on your back and float.
