Wanda Lucas Long

Wanda Lucas Long, 64, died Wed., Oct. 13, 1999, following her valiant fight against cancer.

Mrs. Long was born Jan. 18, 1935, in Prescott, the daughter of Andy Clay and Alice Lucas. After extensive travels with her husband, she settled in the Shreveport, La., area. She attended Lee College in Baytown, Texas, Conroe College in Conroe, Texas, Henderson State University in Arkadelphia and Louisiana State University in Shreveport, where she majored in art and psychology. She was an honorary black belt in Isshinryu Karate. She was a loving and caring person who, with her husband cared for 13 foster sons over a 12-year period. She was a faithful member of Broadmoor Assembly of God in Shreveport, where in past years she had served as a pre-school Sunday school teacher and vice president of women ministries at First Assembly of God in Prescott. She was preceded in death by her father, Andy Clay Lucas, her sister, Jamie Lucas-Harris, and one foster son, Brandon Johnson.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, James LeRoy Long; her daughter, Alissa Renee Long-Danh; her son, Carl Jason Johnson; her mother, Alice Lucas Lawrence; her son-in-law, Danh Danh; her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Johnson; four grandchildren, Starla Sierra-Jamie Danh, Darcy Renee Danh, Adyson Rebecca Johnson and Kevin Randal Carroll, all of the Shreveport- Bossier area; her step-brother, Charles Lawrence of Prescott; two step-sisters, Beth Anderson of Prescott and Brenda Brinkley of Leesville, La.; and 32 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sat., Oct. 16, at Broadmoor Assembly of God in Shreveport under the direction of Agape Funeral Home of Shreveport.
