Saturation Arrests

Published Wednesday, November 3, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune

The NCSO ran a saturation traffic stop recently and netted one for possession of an instrument of crime.

This crime was formerly called possession of drug paraphernalia, but had its title changed.

Otwell said Michael Luther Crawford, 38, of Prescott, was stopped at the roadblocks where officers found drug paraphernalia.

Along with being charged with possession of an instrument of crime, Crawford was cited for having no proof of insurance and failure to pay registration.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission got involved, charging him with hunting without a license.

All charges were misdemeanor offenses, but Crawford was held in the Nevada County jail as he couldn't make bail.

Jerry Tippitt, 38, of Prescott, was also picked up during the roadblock and charged with possession of a control substance, namely marijuana, possession of an instrument of crime and fictitious tags on the vehicle he was driving.

Tippitt posted a $1,525 bond and was released.

Otwell said the NCSO cited numerous drivers for having no liability insurance as well.
