Chamber Selling Bricks

Wanna buy a brick?

Yes, this is for real. Citizens of Prescott and Nevada County can buy bricks from the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce to be placed in walkways at the new park-mural area at the corner of West Main and First Street.

Mary Godwin, executive director of the Chamber, said the bricks will cost $25 each, and must be paid for when ordered. Checks should be made out to the Chamber.

These are garnet-colored bricks and will be imprinted with up to three lines of print, 14 characters per line, in black lettering. But, Godwin said, there will be no symbols or emblems.

This project may not be finished until the year 2000, she said.

Now, there is a deadline involved in ordering bricks. The Chamber and beautification committee began taking orders Tuesday, June 22. The cutoff date for buying a brick is July 30. No orders will be taken after this date, and any orders not paid for by then will be canceled.

The engraved brick is a standard sized brick, measuring 75/8 by 35/8 by 21/4 inches.

Anyone can purchase one of these engraved bricks, as they are not solely for memorials or honorariums.

For more information about this project, contact Godwin at 887-2101; Sheila Cannon 887-3978; or Randall Blount at Taylor's at 887-6624.
