Two Escape From Nevada County Jail

At press time, Monday afternoon, law enforcement officials continued searching for two men who escaped from the Nevada County jail early Monday morning. According to Nevada County Sheriff Steve Otwell, Timothy Hank Jackson, 23, of Prescott, and Michael Dewayne Gulley, 23, of Bluff City, are the escapees.

Otwell said at about 2 a.m., the jailer, Jarrod Inscore was moving Jackson from one cell to another when Jackson turned on the jailer and a scuffle ensued.

While Inscore was wrestling with Jackson, Otwell said, Gulley saw an opening and ran. Jackson managed to overpower Inscore and also ran.

An officer with the Prescott Police Department, Tyrone Butler, was at the NCSO at the time, tried to apprehend the pair, but failed.

Jackson was being held at the NC jail for the Arkansas Department of Corrections and the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. He had pled guilty to commercial burglary for crimes committed recently in the Rosston area and was sentenced to 40 years in the state prison.

He was wanted in Columbia County on four counts of forgery.

Gulley was being held for probation revocation, first degree terroristic threatening and being a certain person in possession of a firearm a charge formerly known as felon in possession of a firearm.

Otwell said he doesn't think Gulley planned to run, but did when he saw an opportunity.

In Jackson's case, Otwell said, Texas and Illinois authorities have been notified of the escape.

When Jackson escaped from the Hempstead County jail in Hope, he fled to Illinois, where he was arrested and extradited.

However, Otwell said, Jackson also has friends in Jewitt, Texas, and could possibly contact them for help.

According to officials, a search for Jackson between Prescott and Gurdon near the Okolona exit was going on late Monday.

In addition, Gulley allegedly contacted a relative early Monday.
