Festival Winners Are Named

Winners, we've got winners. Boy, have we got winners.

The results of the various contests and competitions from the recent Prescott-Nevada County Chicken and Egg Festival are in, with tons of winners.

Starting with the Calvin Brown-Tyson Memorial Coop Hoop, G-Force from Gurdon captured the 12 and under division.

In the 13-14 division, Point Blank went home with the hardware and bragging rights.

The final winner, in the 15-17 category, was Nike.

Shane Sullivan, of Nashville, took home $100 in cold hard cash as the winner of the golden egg hunt.

In the coloring contest, Mikenzie Smillie, of Prescott, captured first place, with Emily Atkins, of Camden, second, Cassie Godwin, of Prescott, third, and Danielle Wilson, also of Prescott, fourth.

The team of Angie Barbaree and son, Joshua, were the victors in the egg toss contest.

Horseshoe winners were Coter and Gary Brown, with Erin Ellis and Todd Avery second, while Ryan Brown and Tim Jester came in third.

From the pit to the diamond, the winners of the women's softball tourney saw A-Plus Alarm of Maumelle take the top spot. Shelter, of Lockesburg, finished second, while Texas, out of Texarkana, Tex., was third, Prescott came in fourth and the Alltel Angels, of Little Rock, finished fifth.

In the adult division of the cackling and crowing contest, Levi Sharp took home $20, while Patricia Thompson earned $15 for her second place finish. Stacey Wiley was third.

Turning to the youth segment of the contest, Victoria Gleason was the winner, with Ashley Higginbottom second and Levi Fitch third.

But, the folks who really had something to crow about were the winners of the weightlifting contest.

In the 150-pound and below division, Zack Plunkett finished first, with Josh Plunkett second.

Moving up in weight, the 151-180 pounders, Nathan Keiffner took the top spot with a lift of 220 pounds. Craig Teague was second at 195, with Eric Jackson third with the same amount.

In the 181-210 pound weight class, Harold White benched 340 pounds. His nearest competition was Chester Fort, who lifted 295, with Paul Hicks pushing up 245.

The big boys, 211 pounds and up, saw Lorenzo Walker capture first place with a lift of 460 pounds. Jonathan Sampson was close behind at 450, with David Middleton third at 340.

For the 0-23 month old division of the Little Miss Hen contest, Lexi Ledbetter, with Madison Grimes capturing the title. Ledbetter was the first runner up, with Hannah Hines the second runner up.

In the 24 month to 3 year bracket, Sami Brown was the winner of the contest and named best dressed. Jena Dougan was first runner up, while Zoie Otwell was the second runner up.

The 4 and 5 year olds saw Daisha Collier finish first, with Dominique Thompson the second runner up and best dressed. These were the only two in the competition.

Turning to the Mr. Rooster contest, Daniel Hill won the 0-23 month category, with Zeke Dougan first runner up and best dressed. Wyatt Miller was the second runner up.

In the 24 month to 3 year category, Jaylon Anderson took the title and best dressed, with Tristan Nivens first runner up.

Leaving pageants and turning to the courts, Hanno Deitrich captured the boys singles title, with Brad Gordon second. Zach Martin was the consolation winner.

In women's singles, Shelly Martin managed to defeat Stacy Stockton for the crown.

Women's doubles, division A, saw Rita Stokes and Ann Stockton capture first place, beating Jan Perry and Mary Ann Waters. Suzanne Marbury and Jackie Byrne were the consolation winners.

The B division had Audra Honea and Sue May winning over Pam Waymack and Brenda Biehunko. The tandem of Melva Morman and Terri McJunkins took the consolation spot.

In men's doubles, Donnie Sneed and Hanno Deitrich beat Gene and Zach Martin.

Mixed doubles were won by Shelly Martin and Donnie Steed, with Joyce Martin and Gene Martin second.
