Here Is How the Future Prescott Opponents Fared Last Friday Night

Published Wednesday, September 13, 1995 in the Nevada County Picayune

While Prescott was managing a 12-12 tie against Class AAA Hope Friday night, here is what their future opponents were doing:

Ashdown, another Class AAA team that will be playing the Wolves Friday night here, was defeated by Nashville, Prescott's opponent September 29, 33-7.

Junction City, which has lost many of its students back to Louisiana, lost its second game. They were defeated by Dermott, 14-8. Prescott will host the Dragons September 22.

De Queen, Prescott's 7AA Conference opponent on October 6 there, defeated Valliant, Okla., 21-6.

Stamps, another conference team, beat Earle, 39-24. The Wolves will host the Yellowjackets on October 13.

Hampton, Prescott's homecoming (and non-conference) game set for October 20, defeated Bearden, 28-14.

Gurdon, hosting the Curley Wolves for its own homecoming, shut out Mineral Springs, 19-0. The Go-Devils, unranked, nonetheless have a 2-0 record.

Fordyce, which lost its first game the week before, beat Sheridan, 22-8 Friday night. The Redbugs will host Prescott on November 3.

Four teams in the 7AA Conference - Nashville, De Queen, Gurdon and Stamps - remain undefeated after two weeks of play. However, one must remember that the game Fordyce lost was to Rison, a Class A team that is undefeated and ranked second in the state in its classification.

The Nashville Scrappers are number one in Class AA in the state, followed by Fordyce. De Queen is ranked seventh this week, up from number 8 last week.

Prescott fans will get its first home game of the season Friday night as the Wolves host the Ashdown Panthers, now 0-2 for the season. The Curley Wolves will try to make it 0-3.

Fans will also get to see a good halftime show by the Prescott band.

Show your support for the Wolves by being present.
