Blueberry Is Featured Pie at Co. Fair

This year's Pie Contest will feature blueberry pie. The Meat Shoppe is the sponsor for this event and will provide cash awards as follows: 1st prize - $50, 2nd - $35, 3rd - $15, 4th - $10. Entries will be accepted between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, in the Potlatch building on the Nevada County fairgrounds. Written recipes must be submitted with a finished product. Recipes in which the finished pie contains raw eggs may not be entered. (Eggs must reach 160 degrees to be considered cooked). The contest is for amateur bakers only. No whipped topping may be used on pies. Pies will be judged on the quality of crust, filling, appearance and originality.
