JPs Approve Grant Resolution

Published Wednesday, September 13, 1995 in the Nevada County Picayune

Nevada County JPs approved a resolution requesting an Arkansas Idustrial Development Commission (AIDC) grant for $2.3 million.

The grant will be for the Nevada County rural water project currently underway utilizing the City of Prescott's surplus water and the north end of the county.

The rural water project has been under consideration for several months now, and will provide water to all homes who want to hook onto the system.

An income survey as well as a testing of well water in the area has been completed as a required part of the survey.

JPs heard a proposal from Richard Rowe in which the county board of the Arkansas Soil Conservation will continue to exsist despite the federal government's closing of the county office.

All federal funding will cease to exsist for the office though the government cannot dissolve the local board.

Rowe's proposal would be for additional funds in next year's budget as the group plans to purchase its property where it has been located for several years.

JPs decided to meet with the ElDorado based company that submitted a proposal at the August meeting for computer systems in the courthouse.

Members decided all county offices as well all JPs who can meet at the same time should have a big group meeting to discuss the needs.
