CaneyPublished Wednesday, September 8, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneRuby Wicker Last week was a very busy week for some of us who worked at the fairgrounds. We had a very good fair. There were more fall garden and hay exhibits than I thought possible after such hot, dry weather. Nevertheless, we appreciated a good rain Sunday afternoon and we'll take more if we can get it. Powell Cross died Saturday. Funeral services were Monday at Laneburg. Dennis Hicks of Dallas was home for the holidays. We were happy to hear Jackie Smith was saved last week and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Cale. She will be baptized next Sunday evening. Mt. Zion will use the baptistry at Morris Church and invite all to attend. Pat McCullough, Leah and Tim spent the weekend with her parents, J.W. and Maxine Glass, and attended church Sunday. Bro. Tal Webb's parents, Don and Margaret Webb, were visitors at our church Sunday. They had lunch with Bro. Tal, Christa and the girls. Lacey was sick; she and Christa were unable to be in church. Pam Cleveland, Clancy and Hannah, Deb Jackson and Cody, abd Pat McCullough, Tim and Leah had lunch with parents, J.W. and Maxine Glass. Bro. Junior and Ann Loe and Lucy Glass had lunch with Sidney Steed Sunday after church. The big school reunion was at Cale Saturday. Everyone reported a good time. Don and Janice (my daughter) and Phyllis said it was so good to see classmates. Thought: The person who does not make mistakes usually does not make anything.
