PPK Contest Held

The South Clark County Jaycees held their annual NFL Gatorade Punt, Pass and Kick Competition Saturday, September 16, at the Gus Brown Field in Gurdon. There were 24 kids entered this year and one young lady. The competition involved punting, passing, and kicking a football for accuracy, the straighter the ball traveled the higher the score. There was not any kids entered in the eight year old group this year. In the nine year old there was one entered, in the 13 year old there was four, in the 14 year old there was two and last but not least there was two entered in the 15 year old group.

The three winners in each group to compete in Sectional Competition were; First place winners, age 9: Beau Boyette of Arkadelphia, age 10: Zach Turner of Gurdon, age 11: Stephen Stroud of Gurdon, age 12: Joe Plyler of Gurdon, age 13: Greg Rhodes of Gurdon, age 14: Andrew Bell of Gurdon, age 15: Derek Anderson of Gurdon.

Second place winners, age 10: Jack Plyler of Gurdon, age 11: James Mosley of Gurdon, age 12: Colby Pace of Gurdon, age 13: John Mosley of Gurdon, age 15: Myram Mitchell.

Third place winners, age 10: Christopher Hunt of Prescott, age 11: Kenard Pegram of Gurdon, age 12: Dorsey Kelley of Gurdon, age 13: Brandon Gattis of Gurdon.

These are Gurdon football greats in the making. Congratulations to all of this years winners!! The top three winners of each age group qualifies to participate in this years sectional competitions at Sylvan Hills High school, which is located on highway 107 about one mile north of the Kiehl intersection. Registration starts at 9:00.
