Dean Oliver Earns AwardsPublished Wednesday, September 27, 1995 in the Nevada County PicayuneDean Oliver and his three show horses have been on a lucky streak. Showing Dr. Pepper he won the western pleasure class at the District 4- H Show in Hope. Oliver traveled on to McKinney, Texas to an AQHA show where he won the youth western pleasure riding his horse, Mercedes. The next weekend he traveled on to Baton Rouge, La., where he represented Arkansas at the Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championships. The show is one of the largest youth equine events in the United States with riders from 12 southern states showing. With 116 riders showing in western pleasure, Oliver won third place with his horse Mercedes. During the Four States Fair Horse Show in Texarkana, Oliver won first in the youth western pleasure ages 13-18 riding Mercedes. In the open two and three year-old western pleasure class, he won first place riding Lexus. Dr. Pepper, Mercedes and Lexus were all born and raised on the Olivers' farm near Prescott.
