Death Under Investigation

Published Wednesday, September 27, 1995 in the Nevada County Picayune

A 93-year-old Bluff City man, missing since Wednesday, Sept. 20, was found dead Saturday, according to Nevada County Sheriff Harold Vines.

Vines said Johnny Walters, Sr., was last seen alive by members of his family Wednesday. They contacted the Nevada County Sheriff's Office Friday, after, Vines said, initially assuming he had gone to visit someone in Camden.

However, the family began searching for him after no word was heard from Walters. Vines was on his way to the Walters home when he received the call the man's body had been found by a grandson. The body was about 100 yards away from his house in a thicket across Highway 24.

Vines said there is no evidence of foul play, however, the case is being treated as a homicide until the results of the crime lab are returned to the NCSO. Vines said the body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock for autopsy.
