Band, Athletic Budgets Already in Red (cont)Published Wednesday, September 27, 1995 in the Gurdon TimesRoss said teachers are being asked to make referrals to the program so the ALE committee can begin examining prospective students. She said they will initially look at having 10 students in the program, with a maximum of 15. In the beginning, Ross said, eight of the students will come from GHS, with two from GMS. Students in ALE will be there a full semester, at which time they will be reevaluated and either returned to a regular classroom or kept in the program. Smithson said the district is preparing for its Comprehensive Outcome Evaluation, which is done every five years. He told the board an internal evaluation is done to prepare for the real one, which is scheduled for next year. The issue was tabled until next month to decide how many days will be needed for the evaluation. It will be decided at the October meeting.
